Jerry Ralya

Striking paintings that combine old master techniques with a touch of abstraction. Jerry Ralya spent several years in the south of France. In France, and Vermont—even in winter—the light has a strength and vibrancy that intrigues him and is reflected in his art.

The work you see is on paper, and the light color is the paper itself. The only tools used are a pastel stick and an eraser. No computer or other technology is involved. Ralya attempts to capture the beauty he finds in the human form, sometimes with a spiritual edge. For example, he has begun a yoga series, to show something of the beauty and spiritual connection that people who love yoga find in it. The first examples of this series will be at the Taste of Stowe (the originals, and low-cost archival framed prints).
