Snowboard Design with Dennis Healy

Explore the process of developing a snowboard graphic for retail with Burton's Creative Manager of Graphics. Students will run through the design process as a whole from start to finish. The importance of creative presentation of ideas and concepts will be stressed.

Cost $115
Experience the creative process of making a work of wearable art. In conjunction with the exhibit in the East Gallery, Wylie Sofia Garcia: The Tulle did Her In, Wylie will present her work and lead a day long workshop. Explore various techniques in manipulating surfaces to create a garment or small work of art that “makes the man or woman”. Participants need to bring an article of clothing or fabric that they will transform during class.

Instructor Bios:

Wylie Garcia received her BA from the University of Chicago and her MFA from the
Massachusetts College of Art. She has mentored with Nancy Reddin Kienholz, Sharon
Kopriva, Helen Miranda Wilson, Jim Peters, Joel Janowitz, Paul Bowen and Laura Letinsky. Her studio is located in the Historic South End Arts District in Burlington, Vermont. Wylie lives between Louisiana, Texas, and Vermont.

Dennis Healy is the Creative Manager of Graphics at Burton where he is responsible for the management and creation of art/graphics for boards, boots, bindings and more. He has been involved in the snowboarding industry for over 13 years. His design experience includes working for Rome Snowboards, Jager Di Paola Kemp and Fuse Sports Marketing.

James Tomlinson has a degree in multimedia and design from the Green Mountain Career and Technology Center. He has worked in video production at Green Mountain Access Television in Hyde Park. James has trained community members in editing and camera work and taught an after school program for 9th and 8th graders in video production. He also assisted with the development of the Johnson Skate Park.


Please register for classes at least one week before the class is scheduled to start. If you register after this, please call us regarding the status of the class.


A 75% refund may be given if your request to drop a class is made at least 2 weeks prior to the first class. A full refund will be given if the Helen Day Art Center has to cancel a class, or if you drop a class and find your own replacement.
